see you soon….

Unfortunitly, our trip has come to an end and most of us are already back “home.” As I write this blog I can’t help but be overwhelmed by emotions and tears. CYMA was the best experience of my life in every aspect, spiritually, intellectually, and socially. It was an unbelieveble growing experience that will not only never be forgotten but will stick out as one of the greatest times of my life.

I know I left a piece of my heart with the kids at Orran. Their smiling faces will remain in my memory forever. I can just see them running to greet us now, or calling our names. I can still see tears streming down Tamara’s face the day we left. They are my biggest motivation to return to Armenia as soon as possible, just to witness them grow older, and strieve against the huge opsticals that face them on an everyday basis.

As I’m sure you’ve already heard, our theme for CYMA 2005 was Bridging the Gap. My most significant bridging moment was at Karabegh. It all started with a little boy. This blond haired 8 year old had me at parev, as i stood on my belcony at the hotel and he stood waving at my from the garden of his house. I went down stairs to talk to him, and ended up playing soccor with him and his friends. we were soon joined by Eddie, Stef, Paul, and Alex. The next day I woke up to him calling my name from his house. So I went downstairs again and his mom was with him, she immediatly invited me into their house. By that time Eddie had come down too, so the both of us went inside. We eat, talked and tried hard to see life through their eyes. Though there are many other bridging experiences, that one seems to stand out the most in my mind and heart.

As for my fellow CYMA members… THANK YOU for makingthis trip so incredible. I really can’t imagaine life without seeing all your beautiful smiles everyday. I would really love to list all our inside jokes right now, but this blog is already “getting a little too long” (as will would say about Rita’s stories). THANK YOU Davidfor caring about us as much as you did, and for being the best leader everrrr. I don’t think anyone could ever take your place as CYMA coordinator and do half as good of a job as you. THANK YOU to the incredible 8! Stef, Alene, Rita, Carla, Victoria, Nous, and Anahid for being such great friends and the coolest group of girls around. THANK YOU to the boys, David, Will, Paul, Alex and Mr. Yaldezian for always making us laugh and taking care of us.

So goodbye for now to the country that stole my heart. Goodbye for now to Hybussiness hotel, Orran, our local friends, Square One, Marco Polo, (and everywhere else we eat enormous amounts of food at) and Republic Square. See you soon my beautiful Armenia!

P.S. Hey you guys want to do something later on?
Always,
