STUCK IN THE UK

Ok so I had the good fortune of landing in the London on August 10th!!  So I get off the plane and the pilot tells everyone there are some “technical” difficulties and we all need to collect our luggage.  When we are in the terminal, trying to connect to our flight, I find out my flight is cancelled and rescheduled nine days later.  So I ended up spending the first three nights in a hotel they gave us in London.  Though I had been in London before, and it is a BEAUTIFUL country.  The weather sucks!  I mean rain in August, and not just rain, but wind and FREEZING temperatures too!  So that was an interesting way to leave Armenia.  But now I am finally back.  I ended up spending the last seven night’s at my uncles, they live a few hours from London.  SO much better than the hotel!

I miss Armenia a lot.  I especially miss my family that I had not seen since I had left Armenia when I was seven.  I am hoping I can go back this July, though it all depends on my work schedule and how lenient they are with giving me a vacation.  Let me just say that problems like this don’t occur in Armenia!  The whole year is a vacation.  Life there is paced very differently from here.  I am back to the US with a part time job working 21 hours a week and juggling 18 units.  I barely have any free time and I am beginning to questions the purpose of all this stress when I am supposed to be doing this to have a “better” life.  It is a little ironic.

I got back to LA literally the day before school started!  I am now staying with my parents, at least for the semester, since I had no time to find a new place!  I am also working in a whole new environemnt.  So I have had a lot to keep me busy.  I haven’t really had the time to dwell on how GREAT Armenia was, so I dont think leaving has really hit me yet.

Some memories of the trip that just won’t go away

Thinking Areen before a photo (always created a guaranteed laugh! Tamara you know what I’m talking about!!)

Sosi and BOMBA

Karabakh.  It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL there. I would recommend it to anyone going to Armenia!  It gives you a completely different experience of Armenia.

Chris and his ice cream…

Brooke sleeping in the back of the van…

REAL tomatoes that taste like tomatoes!  Whole Foods’ tomatoes tastes awful now, in fact most produce tastes bad now!  Does this go away??

But overall, what I remember most is the feeling of better understanding myself and where I come from.  So many things about myself were better explained by visiting the country.  It was an experience that has made me “more” Armenian, though I am sure this is the wrong term to use.   I am very happy I visited Armenia, and I am very excited to do it again!

    Lusine!!!!! You blogged it!!! Yay!

I just wanted to say… the produce thing. It doesn’t go away. The only way you can over come it, is to GO BACK TO ARMENIA! — Everyone who knows me, knows that i hate tomatoes… i ate a full on, delicious, tomatoe sandwich almost every other day in Armenia! Delicious! I can’t want to go back… for sheer purposes of the produce.

I miss armenia just as much as you do. I think that its totally appropriate to use the term “more” armenian! We’re always growing and learning after all!

    miss ya!
