First Impressions
We arrived at the airport in Yerevan at around midnight on Wednesday to find out that our luggage is on the next flight which would be arriving Saturday morning. It is 1:00 Saturday afternoon and we are expecting it anytime. On the upside, I got to buy some Armenian clothes which look awesome! There was a big mix up at the London airport with my brother, Jordan, and because British people never know what they’re talking about, him and Der Vartan missed the flight to Yerevan. They ended up flying to Moscow and then to Armenia. If I’ve learned anything from the flying experience, it’s NEVER FLY BRITISH AIRWAYS! Anyway, our first full day here was interesting. We walked down to the mall and the girls being their girly selves had to stop at every store on the way. I was very impressed with the mall. It was about 4 or 5 stories high and filled with small stores that all pretty much had the same clothes. The younger folk dress very stylish here. I like their style a lot.
We felt very out of place the first day couple of days or so. Everywhere we went we were getting laughed at pointed at and stared down. I hated it! It’s getting a lot better though. It’s very weird because we never considered ourselves American when we were in America, we were Armenians. Now that we are here, we are American and we stick out like sore thumbs! I noticed something else. In America, we are known as loud Armenians, whether we’re in a hotel, at a restaurant or hanging out downtown. In Hayastan, we are loud Americans! the Armenians here are very mellow.
I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of this trip!
