To Bridge the Gap

To be honest, this trip has left me torn inside. Although I bleed the blood of an Armenian, I was born and raised as an American. Throughout my life, it has been difficult for me  to find a balance between the two. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one of my kind, and that God has blessed with a special gift, but cannot seem to find someone to give it to.

Fortunately, this trip has helped me ”bridge the gap” inside my soul. Within approximately one week, I have learned more important aspects of my Armenian heritage on a first hand basis, and at the same time, I have never been more proud to be an American as well. As we traveled throughout the country, I saw such poverty that no person should ever succumb to. What my eyes saw as we passed the countryside made me want to help as much as possible.

That’s when I realized that it doesn’t matter if I find an exact balance of being an Armenian-American, but that I accept Christ and apply his teachings to those less fortunate than I. So if I can give that gift to others, than I have truly fulfilled my duties and responsibilities as a Christian.

I’m happy that you have been able to bridge the gap in your soul, Bedros. Enjoy many more of those moments while in Hayastan.
