CYMA 2009 Moved Mountains. This Year, Participants will be Building Mountains--But We Need YOUR Help!

As the CYMA Executive Committee is finalizing the details of this upcoming summer’s trip, the participants are getting excited about developments in this year’s mission. The trip will depart on June 30th and return to the United States on July 31st. Like in 2009, the participants will be staying in a beautiful 6-bedroom house located in the heart of Yerevan. Along with the regular visits to the major tourist attractions around Armenia, the group will once again be taking trips into Artsakh and Gyumri. In Gyumri, they will be completing another weeklong service project to provide aid for the families of the earthquake trodden city.
Because the trip will be encompassing two months this year, the committee has launched a Community Engagement Program. In addition to the service projects and regular tourist attractions that the participants will be visiting, each member will be assigned to an organization in or near Yerevan to volunteer their time. Some of the organizations we currently have participants placed in include the Manana Youth Center, the Eco Club, and the Orran Youth Camp. Every member will be assigned to a location catered to their interests and will be working there for three to four days a week. This year’s mission builds on last year’s theme of Moving Mountains, but we are emphasizing engagement. CYMA not only seeks to provide participants with a glimpse of the Motherland, but it strives to get them involved in contemporary society.
CYMA works actively to keep the price of the trip low for all participants. Contributions from caring and passionate people like you make this a possibility. This year, CYMA will be hosting an Estate Sale on June 5th at Istanbul Armenian Organization, where all members will be selling personal belongings and other items.
